Korman Lynch Lustig & Sassower is a New York City personal injury law firm built on a simple idea: that seriously injured people deserve a firm with the experience, the resources, and the commitment to take their case as far as it needs to go. The firm concentrates on construction accident litigation and other serious personal injury matters, and it keeps clients and their needs at the center of the work. This is a service firm, not a volume-driven business.
The firm as it exists today is the product of a merger between two established New York personal injury practices, Korman Lynch and Lustig Sassower. Together, they bring their attorneys, their track records, and their shared approach under one name and one roof.
Korman Lynch Lustig & Sassower was formed when Korman Lynch and Lustig Sassower, formerly Arye, Lustig & Sassower, P.C., joined together. Each firm had spent years representing injured New Yorkers and their families, and each had built its practice around serious injury and trial work. Bringing them together did not change that focus. It deepened it.
For clients, the merger means a larger team, more resources, and a deeper bench of trial experience, without losing the personal attention that a service firm provides. Clients who came to either firm before the merger are represented by the same combined team today. The name on the door is new. The commitment to the people the firm represents is not.
The firm's roots reach back to 1965, when the Lustig Sassower practice was founded to protect the rights of injury victims and their families. Leonard A. Arye, a founding partner, spent a legal career of more than 50 years advocating for clients and left behind a legacy of significant results. That tradition of client advocacy carries forward in the combined firm.
Over the decades, the firm's attorneys have helped many families recover the compensation they needed after a serious or catastrophic injury, and their work at the appellate level has helped shape New York law. Over the last 50 years, attorneys with the firm have obtained more than $1 billion in recoveries for clients. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome in any future case.
The firm is led by its partners, who bring decades of experience, knowledge, and skill to their practice. Senior trial attorney D. Carl Lustig III and managing partner Mitchell J. Sassower each offer more than 30 years of experience in personal injury litigation. They are joined by partners John G. Korman and Michael J. Lynch, by attorney Robert M. Fiala, and by associate attorneys and staff, each committed to serving the firm's clients.
D. Carl Lustig III has earned a number of honors over his career. He was named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in New York State by the National Trial Lawyers Association, and he is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization limited to trial lawyers who have achieved significant results, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mitchell J. Sassower and Carl Lustig have both been selected for inclusion in New York Super Lawyers and have earned Martindale-Hubbell's highest rating, AV Preeminent, a peer rating for legal ability and ethical standards.
Beyond their casework, the firm's partners are recognized throughout the legal community, lecturing lawyers, judges, and others on trial tactics, construction law, medical evidence, and other topics. That standing reflects years spent not just trying cases, but helping to teach how they are tried.
The firm represents seriously injured people and grieving families across the range of New York personal injury law, with a particular focus on construction accidents and high-exposure cases. Our attorneys handle:
Whatever the case, the firm builds it from the first day as if a jury will hear it.
When someone is seriously injured, their attorney has to be willing and able to commit real resources to prepare the case for trial. Korman Lynch Lustig & Sassower has the financial and investigative resources to build a thorough case from the earliest stages, working with the medical, engineering, and other professionals a serious case requires.
Many of the firm's cases settle before trial, but our attorneys prepare every case as if it will be tried. That willingness to go to court, and a long track record of jury verdicts, is what lets the firm negotiate from strength. A settlement on the right number is welcome. A settlement that shortchanges what a client actually lost is not one the firm accepts just because it comes early.
For an injured person choosing a firm, the merger is good news. It means more attorneys, more resources, and more combined trial and appellate experience focused on your case, backed by the same client-first service both firms were known for. You get the depth of a firm with a long record and the attention of a practice that treats you as a person, not a file number.
